Be Wary When It Comes to SEO Advice

There’s tons of misinformation, as well as disinformation, floating around out there when it comes search engine optimization. I find this to be esecially true about link-building advice. I’m no expert at SEO, far from it, but I’ve been at this long enough to know that most people don’t have a clue what they’re talking about as far as SEO goes. Even some of the so-called experts are pretty cluesless, in my opinion.

I’ve taken advice from the “experts” that have put my sites right into the Google sandbox, or in some cases even de-indexed. Of course, I can’t prove anything, but the correlations seemed pretty obvious to me at the time. So in a nutshell, I’m just saying to exercise some caution when it comes building backlinks and such.

There is a service run by Jonathan Leger called 3 way links that appears to be a great way to build up backlinks, at least on the surface. And there are plenty of good testimonials from people who have had great success with it. But there was a heated discussion about it on the Warrior forum a few weeks back and some people were claiming that their sites were deindexed by Google due to it. I don’t know if three way links was the cause or not, but Google seems pretty smart when it comes to discovering these things.

I want to be clear that I’m not knocking Jonathan or his service. I think he’s very smart and I’ve got a lot of respect for all he’s accomplished with his other products and services. I’m just saying that services like 3 way links make me a little nervous.

If you are going to particpate in it, my advice is to avoid using your money sites or sites you really care about. It is better to use intermediary sites, or sites that you are not too worried about getting the heave-ho from big G.
